About IWHR Study

Despite the economic advances, issues related to women’s health are still being associated with irrational taboos which has led to years of stigmatization.

Women are multitaskers, juggling between multiple responsibilities at the same time. In dealing with endless duties, women often neglect an important aspect that is their own health. Many a times they deal with unpleasant beliefs about being a woman and adopt measures which superficially address or tackle these problems.

Women are conditioned/raised to think in a particular way rather than address the core issues which results in multiple problems. Several underlying medical conditions are unknown to the larger society which have compelled women to “live” with the condition rather than address it. Some examples are as given below –

This initiative aims to bring to light important health issues that India’s significant women workforce is facing, and to understand the stereotypes surrounding their health. The study is focused on connecting with working women residing in key metros and bringing forth social, cultural and health issues that become the conservation starter with the media and other stakeholders.

Thus, Emcure Pharmaceuticals commissioned this study to IPSOS, to identify the prevalent notions and misconceptions about women’s health/ issues/concerns and well- being from the cultural and social context in India.
